Moved out

I've moved them onto a seperate page, and brought in a hints page. I agree that they are not really encyclopedia material, but it's good to have them somewhere where they can be added to.

ASPX

Combining the two, you've got to be kidding?

I dont like the idea of combining the to articles as they are not the same thing, as aspx uses the .net framework.

Plus aspx uses different languages and syntax than regular asp. Seems like a bad idea to merge them. Unless anyone objects I'm going to remove the merge tag. --Pboyd04 22:12, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Added comment: Dude! That's not an ASP problem. That's a syntax error by the people who wrote that page; you can't say that is some inherant fault with ASP.

Not Enough Info

This page has very little information on it.

It would be great if someone with some expertise would have another look at this. I don't know much about the subject (which is why I looked for it here) and found it impenetrable because of the jargon. Maybe it could have an introductory passage for know-nothings like me, and then the more technical stuff for those who want to know more detail. I didn't understand whether ASP or ASP.net could run on a non-windows server. I've been to two different web hosts where one says they are going to offer ASP support while the other host says ASP is impossible to have on non-windows servers. ASP support comes installed only on IIS(Windows) servers. This doesn't mean that it will not run on others, but it does require that you install specialized software such as Sun Java System Active Server Pages (for linux): http://www.sun.com/software/chilisoft/ (for example) Bryantn 20:51, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just a bit confused, so far all i get is that the ASP helps you write websites. Any simplification would be useful.

P.S. I'm confused enough with this bit, e.g. asking for help. Can you script without permission?

I don't understand, does this mean that people can obtain this program and vandalise any website using it?

No, the ASP scripts are files on the server which are executed by the server; not on your computer, the client, where your browser is.
