IBM Database Magazine is a U.S.-based magazine published by TechWeb (formerly CMP Technology)and sponsored by IBM Corp. With a worldwide readership of more than 100,000, the magazine provides how-to information about DB2, Informix, UniVerse, and UniData, along with coverage of related tools, software, and solutions (including those that fall under IBM's Information On Demand initiative). Readers include database administrators, managers, designers, application developers, information architects, IT managers, and academics.

History

IBM Database Magazine is the new name of the publication (and companion Web site) formerly known as DB2 Magazine. The current name reflects the magazine's coverage of other IBM database software in addition to DB2[1]. Although DB2 Magazine had included regular articles about Informix technology since 2005[2], the magazine's name didn't reflect that coverage. IBM acquired Informix's database technology in 2001[3].

IBM Database Magazine Web Site

IBMDatabaseMag.com includes a community wiki, rebranded along with the magazine, that provides a place for readers to share tips and tricks for working with IBM information management software. The wiki's mission is "to gather DB2, Informix, U2, Cloudscape and other IBM information management know-how and make it available to the IBM Database Magazine community.

Othere site elements include a blog with categories for DB2 performance and certification, Informix, and general information management topics, and category pages that separate content into topics areas (DB2, Informix, U2, Application Development, and so on). The site features archives from IBM Database Magazine and DB2 Magazine from 1996 to the present.
