Astronomical algorithm

Astronomical algorithms are the algorithms used to calculate ephemerides, calendars, and positions (as in celestial navigation or satellite navigation). Among the largest and most complex of these algorithms are those used to calculate the position of the Moon. A simple one is the calculation of the Julian day.
