A standardized variable is the value of a variable minus its mean, divided by its standard deviation. It is sometimes called a z-value. The z-value has men zero and variance one. Thus it is useful in statistical analysis. If z has a Normal distribution, then it has a standard normal distribution, N(0,1). [1]
