A scripted sequence, often refered to as a cutscene, not to be confused with a movie cutscene, in video games, is a part of a game in which the player no longer has control over the cinematics. This most often occurs when the game's writer wishes for a scene to take place where he does not want the player to influence the outcome. In many games this allows the graphics designers to enhance the graphics, commonly referred to as Computer Graphics, (CG). This is possible due to the fact that the user interface is no longer active, allowing more processing power to be routed to the graphics. This is most prevalent in the recent Final Fantasy Series.
