Interesting feature

Since side judges are not members of the bar, they can cut a lot of corners. For example, in a civil trial, they can talk to both sides "urging" a settlement during recess! The verbal twisting of arms can be incredible. They do not pull punches! Their goal is to step up the pace to make the court more efficient. They hate dwaddling and delays! The judge, a member of the bar, couldn't do this and wouldn't if he could. He might have to work with these people someday. And the worse the court system is the more judges and attorneys there are!
