OpenSound Control (OSC) is a communication protocol for computers, sound synthesizers, and other multimedia devices.

It is meant to supersede the MIDI, which was conceived in the 1980s and is generally considered to be unadequate for modern multimedia purposes.

OSC still lacks general support, but support is growing.
