Wikipedia:Avoid using the preview button
This project page may meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion as a page that is patent nonsense, consisting purely of incoherent text or gibberish with no meaningful content or history. This does not include poor writing, coherent vandalism and hoaxes (G3), coherent material not written in English, badly translated material, etc. This criterion also does not apply to pages in the user namespace. See CSD G1.
If this project page does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion, or you intend to fix it, please remove this notice, but do not remove this notice from pages that you have created yourself. If you created this page and you disagree with the given reason for deletion, you can click the button below and leave a message explaining why you believe it should not be deleted. You can also visit the talk page to check if you have received a response to your message. Note that this project page may be deleted at any time if it unquestionably meets the speedy deletion criteria, or if an explanation posted to the talk page is found to be insufficient.
Note to administrators: this page has content on its talk page which should be checked before deletion. Administrators: check links, talk, history (last), and logs before deletion. - This page is created as a humorous complement to Wikipedia:Avoid using wikilinks
Preview button (shown on the left) is sometimes incorrectly used to preview articles before actually saving them. It is wrong and incorrect for several reasons:
- What if your computer crashes, all the work will be lost.
- You won't have as many edits and therefore are less likely to become an administrator of Wikipedia.
- Servers cannot handle the load of generating pages that do not even exist yet.
- If your typo causes a link to go red, that will cause people to realise that they should probably create a redirect to the real page, since if you have misspelled it so might somebody else.
Alternatives
- Parse all the text in your head, if you would like to see how it would look like.
- Save the page (marking the edit minor) If the outcome is undesirable edit again. If you like it, edit again making a small change and apologising for marking a major edit as minor.
