Simple username changes

This page hosts simple requests for a username change across the Wikimedia network. Requests are processed by stewards and global renamers.

Instructions
  1. Read Wikipedia:Changing username carefully. You must be aware of and understand all the implications of changing your username. Specifically:
    • Your name will be changed to the new one in the page history of every page you've edited, and in all log entries.
    • Your user pages, account preferences, and edits will be moved to the new name. Please do not create a new account or attempt to move them yourself.
    • Links left by your previous signatures will still point to the old userpage; however, a redirect will be created pointing to your new userpage.
    • Understand that using your real name as your username may put you at risk of harassment.
  2. Read the username policy and ensure your new name does not violate it. Usernames must not:
  3. Check that your new username is not already in use by searching for it on Special:CentralAuth. If the name is registered, even on another Wikimedia project, it is taken.
If the target name hasn't made any edits to any Wikimedia project, you may request usurpation at meta:Steward requests/Username changes.
  4. Log in with your current username. Requests will not be approved if the requester is not logged in.
  5. Place your request here.
    • Add your desired username after NEW=.
    • Add a reason for the change after REASON=. Requests without a valid reason will not be approved.
    • Do not change anything else.
  6. Select Publish changes.
  7. Check back on this page periodically to answer any inquiries regarding your request. Consider watching the page so you can monitor updates. Requests may be closed if there are unresolved queries.

Requests that do not follow these instructions or that are grossly malformed are subject to removal.

For stewards, global renamers, and clerks

Only stewards and global renamers have the authority to approve or decline requests. Requests are automatically clerked by a bot, but occasionally human intervention is required, particularly for malformed requests. If you would like to help out with clerking, please see Wikipedia:Changing username/Assistance.

Current requests

Add new requests to the bottom of the page.

Pejoyce → P.E. JOYCE

Clerk note: Putting this here procedurally, but the user should probably log in and comment here to confirm his intentions. —Random832 18:31, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Bureaucrat note: Its unclear if the user wants this account as well as or instead of their present account... WjBscribe 03:06, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Katherinewelles → JohnnyTwainTonight

Bureaucrat note: Who is Johnny_Twain? Is this a tv programme? Secretlondon (talk) 05:39, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The username policy says you can't name yourself after people, or to promote things. Secretlondon (talk) 05:40, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lollipop-3 → PinkXjellocreature

I have a question, will my userpage be transfered to my new name if this works out?
Clerk note: It will - but all Wikipedia names start with a capital letter (I noticed the edit). -Jéské (Blah v^_^v) 07:53, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, that would be great if you could perform the change. X××x××pink×jellocreature××x××X (talk) 07:54, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As for copyright and personal rights, this (obviously) is not the name of a person, and I made the name up myself a year ago.
You may say that I write so much more on my own userpages and talk pages, but Ill have you know that I submitted an article that I wrote which took up a TON of my time, only it got deleted by some admin. The article was on a game called Wajas. The admin said games werent relevant to wikipedia. But seriously! Just go and search runescape or gaia online and look at the big articles on games you get! I dont think that admin liked me. Yes. I know I'm ranting. Sorry. I'll stop now.
gawsh, it's like 12:07 at night and I'm just some little high school student, and I'm just sitting here until you change my username. Sorry, but take some pitty on a little kid! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lollipop-3 (talkcontribs) 08:07, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: Repeatedly posting here isn't going to get a bureaucrat here sooner. I really don't think they care whether or not you're a kid or adult when they prioritize renames; only whether or not you are abusing Wikipedia policies or have an extensive block log do they prioritize because of the complications involved with those. -Jéské (Blah v^_^v) 08:16, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's 12:16... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lollipop-3 (talkcontribs) 08:16, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
(Reindent)  Clerk note: Time-tracking isn't going to get a crat here faster, either. -Jéské (Blah v^_^v) 08:22, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not done You have no encyclopedic contributions worth keeping. You also seem to have no idea what we are about here. Secretlondon (talk) 20:54, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Donpeake → Don Peake

Bureaucrat note: Is there a reason? Note that you can customize your signature at the Preferences page. That way, whenever you sign with four tildes (~~~~) it would read "Don Peake", regardless of the actual username, and you don't need to have your username changed for that. Redux (talk) 21:11, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: From what I've seen, requests like these are generally accepted because the user made a mistake while registering. -Jéské (Blah v^_^v) 07:19, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Bureaucrat note: We do these routinely except when they are self promotional and spammy - as this one appears to be. Secretlondon (talk) 20:55, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Only contribution seems to be a userpage 'article'. Secretlondon (talk) 21:02, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Metal to the Max! → .....The Great One.....

Bureaucrat note: I think remembering how many dots you have before and after the name may be a hastle for those trying to contact you and it may also be a nuisance for you whenever you sign in. Are you sure this is the name you want? WjBscribe 02:34, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Im sure, i did 5 dots. If theres no other user with the user The Great One thyen i would be happy to just use that.--Metal to the Max! 05:26, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pierre lisbonis → Lisbonis

Pierre lisbonis → Pierre Lisbonis

Bureaucrat note: Please clarify which of your two requests you want performed. WjBscribe 01:00, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eagles81 → Mars2007NEW

Clerk note: Do you really want the NEW bit on the end, or did you just forget to remove it? Qst 17:14, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Plasticreverie → Plastic Reverie

Not done You can't have a promotional username. Plastic Reverie appear to be a band. Secretlondon (talk) 21:22, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yutohirata → Bonoh

Not done This is your second edit, just make the new account. Secretlondon (talk) 21:23, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lemon-lime → ペコペコ

Bureaucrat note: What language is that in? Where else do you use that name? Secretlondon (talk) 21:27, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's Japanese onomatopoeia for hungry. I use it various places on the internet (I'd rather not specify for anonymity's sake) and I've got a request going on Commons as well for the change. I'd be fine with PecoPeco if you don't like the Japanese characters, but I would prefer the real thing.Lemon-lime (talk) 03:51, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clfreire → C L Freire

 Not done Secretlondon (talk) 21:28, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DCIndependents → DC Independents

Clerk note: Username appears to be promotional, userpage is full of spam. Qst 16:49, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Blocked as blatently promotional. Secretlondon (talk) 21:55, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Boiastig → Astig

Clerk note: The requested username is already registered; see Special:CentralAuth. Please choose another name which is not already in use. Qst 20:58, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mlabney → M.L.

Clerk note: The requested username is already registered; see Special:CentralAuth. Please choose another name which is not already in use. Greeves (talk contribs) 02:12, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Congolese → Congolese fufu

  • Current name: Congolese (talk · contribs · logs · block log)
  • Requested name: Congolese fufu (rename user)
  • Reason: I request a new name because I saw that a user named Laos was blocked because Laos is a name of a country. Only by the kindness of an administrator was the person unblocked. I don't want to be blocked because someone in the future thinks my username is inappropriate as it is the name of people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I don't want a drastic name change. Congolese fufu is a name of a paste like dish. Yum yum! Congolese (talk) 06:14, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Bureaucrat note: Your username is absolutely fine. Who got blocked for having Laos in their name? Secretlondon (talk) 10:19, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Laos (talk · contribs) was blocked. Jpgordon unblocked a day ago. hbdragon88 (talk) 22:43, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wow, he was blocked over a year and a half ago. pschemp's response to why she blocked Laos. hbdragon88 (talk) 22:45, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm horrified :( Secretlondon (talk) 23:03, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The response is dreadful and I've told them so. One can edit about a developing world country without having a POV, its not $country right or wrong, and you should actually be obviously dodgy before being blocked. I'M SO SORRY. Secretlondon (talk) 23:07, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am still requesting name change. Even that administrator who blocked Laos said that he or she would do it again (see link that someone put above). I do not want trouble. If you don't like fufu, let me know and I can think of something else, maybe Congolese pizza or something like that. Congolese (talk) 03:45, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adeelkhokhar → Kazim Hussain

Clerk note: Please provide a reason for requesting this rename. Thanks, Qst 13:25, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Marcboterman → Mabo1975

247NET → Jkarratti

Clerk note: All requests must be made while logged in to the account that will be renamed; this request was made by 76.83.142.254 (talk · contribs). Please log in to the account that is to be renamed and confirm this request. Qst 20:34, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SonicChao → SyntaxError55

Shopautoquotes → Insurancegenius

DEbdrup → Debdrup

What I really wanted was 'debdrup', but hm. It appears that all articles have to be capitalized for the first letter. Still, Debdrup would be easier to remember than DEbdrup when signing in.

Geoffmacartney → GeoffMacartney
