The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is a professional body representing the transport and logistics industries in the United Kingdom. It was formed from the merging of the Chartered Institute of Transport (CIT) and the Institute of Logistics and Transport (ILT).

History

The Chartered Institute of Transport (CIT) was founded in 1919 and granted its royal charter in 1926.

In 1999, CIT and ILT combined activities to become the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. The word 'Chartered' was adopted into the title in 2004.
