Re: Prophets in Judaism

there is a tradition that if a prophet's father's name is mentioned that means the father is also a prophet (I made in green the people who i know are prophets from the talmud) thus shouldn't adam, seth, Enos, ..., Amram also be prophets in Judaism? About Job

Fist the man is not prophet according to Judaism and that eve if the story true. Prophet are people that say prophecy or labelled as such by the bible. You wont find any Jewish book say prophet Job. Now some Jews believe the story of Job is true but many believe it is allegory.I myself are former religious Jew and in the Yeshiva i was told the story is allegory.

As for the Talmud say I would like to know where. What book,page and line.

The fact is that I am still Jew but Atheist.If you were Ortodox Jew then you would know that Jew stay Jew even if left the religion. It is enough that his mother Jewish.

The fact that you mention Hindu make me to think that you are Muslim because Muslim have special hate to Hindu.We Jews don't have it.

Have you seen this Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2007_November_12#Category:Hebrew_Bible_saints ? I think the category needs at least info on who selects these figures as saints. Can you advise how the group was chosen? Thanks, Johnbod 14:50, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am atheist
