High Productivity Computing Systems

High Productivity Computing Systems (HPCS) is a DARPA project for developing a new generation of economically viable high productivity computing systems for national security and industry to 2010 year.
It will create a multi petaflop systems. HPC Challenge (High perfomance computers challenge) is part of the project.
Paticipants:
- Sun microsystems (at I and II phases)
- IBM with PERCS (Productive, Easy-to-use, Reliable Computer System) based on POWER7 processor, AIX operating system and General Parallel File System
- Cray with Chapel (programming language)
- HP (only at I phase)
- SGI (only at I phase)
- MITRE (only at I phase)
- MIT Linkoln Laboratory (at I and II phases)
