"Since the late 1990s, they may be playing off the popular Java programming language."

I question the validity of this statement. I highly doubt that the typicial coffee house owner/patron will know about the programming language. If "Java" has been added to the name of a coffee house, I imagine it's because it's a coffee type, rather than a programming language.
