XRCD® (eXtended Resolution Compact Disc) is a patented manufacture process of JVC that is used for improving the fidelity of Compact Discs.

XRCDs have better sound than common CDs, because the sampled audio is encoded with 24bits/96KHz of real musical information, as compared with 16 bits for most other CDs. XRCD overcomes the limitation of the 16-bit CD format and remaining completely compatible with the existing 16-bit CD players.
