Terminal web

The terminal web is an actinous web which lies beneath microvilli in specialized epithelial cells. It is comprised primarily of actin filaments stabilized by spectrin, anchoring the terminal web to the apical membrane of the cell. Myosin II and tropomyosin provide contractile ability, allowing the microvilli at the cell surface to spread apart, increasing the intermicrovillous space.[1]
