Robot commando was a large (approximately 50 cm high) robot toy manufactured by Ideal in 1961. A remote control unit was permanently connected by a thin tube to the robot. It did what it was set to do when the operator breathed heavily into the controller. Yelling: "GO FORWARD" into the remote contol's "microphone" with a lot of breath would move the robot forward if it was preset by the user to go forward, etc. The robot could slowly raise the top of it's head to uncover a missle and fire it at a another toy within a 4 foot arc, or it could deliver long-range ping pong balls via over-handed pitches from alternating arms. It disappointed in that it did not actually respond to voice commands as the advertisment protrayed, but overall was enjoyable from the fun of playing with a large remote-controlled robot armed with mutliple projectile weapons.
