CSS is the acronym for Chirp Spread Spectrum, a special communications concept based on pulse coded modulation in either confined 2.45 GHz ISM band channels or in wider UWB band allocation in the range between 3.0 GHz and 7.0 GHz.

Standardization for such modulation scheme is yet achieved with IEEE 802.15.4aCSS in the 2.45 GHZ ISM band. This modulation concept is certified for public usage in USA, Japan and Europe.
