Talk:Document-based question
I'm starting a How-To on DBQs. I don't fully understand how to write a DBQ, so I'm going to need lots of help. - Pingveno 23:56, 13 Dec 2003 (UTC)
The village pump discussion
I'm thinking of writing a HOWTO for Document Based Queries (DBQ) here. I'm particularly running into problems writing DBQ's for an AP history class. The HOWTO would be at HowTo write a DBQ.
Maybe this should be put into wikibooks, but I think it would be too hard to find. - Pingveno 22:20, 13 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Correction: Document Based Question (DBQ) - Pingveno 23:26, 13 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- I would say write an introductory material here about what a DBQ is, where it's used, etc., and link to the full howto which you write at wikibooks. Dori | Talk 23:44, Dec 13, 2003 (UTC)
- You might get an answer quicker if you ask at the Wikibooks Staff Lounge rather than here. Angela. 00:07, 14 Dec 2003 (UTC)
The beginning
I might start with placing some links to outside sites. There's already quite a bit of material on the Internet, but there are copyright problems with using it directly - Pingveno 00:04, 14 Dec 2003 (UTC)
You might want to read http://www.oswego.org/staff/tcaswell/wg/dbq.htm -- The Anome 00:19, 14 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info. I just added that to the external links. - Pingveno 00:34, 14 Dec 2003 (UTC)
The plan:
- Get links to help in the mean time
- Get a (better) definition. See: Document Based Question
- Obtain a DBQ for an example, including:
- The primary history sources
- Any notes taken on the history
- The DBQ essay itself
- Break the pieces of the DBQ up, explaining step by step how everything is done
I'm going to also place a redirect at Document Based Query, and maybe move the article for Document Based Question into the How to. - Pingveno 02:26, 14 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- Should be the other way around: keep the article at Document Based Question, move any "how to" information into it. That's more in line with our naming conventions. Martin 13:44, 28 Mar 2004 (UTC)
