Jevonnes Hasan Okegbhey was born in a province near the capital of Abuja. The son of a wealthy Oil Tycoon, he showed exceptional talent at an early age for both sports and academics. He received a B.S. from the historical University of Nigeria where his father attended as well. Both his education and his desire to succeed into the footsteps of his father made him a diligent worker. He excelled as an executive in his fathers oil contracting business and is sure to be his successor as his only living son. Jevonnes is a great lacrosse and football player that is highly touted by the CAF (Confederation Africaine De Football). He first traveled to the US to gain military training at his father’s request and joined the 101st Airborne as a paratrooper and gained additional training in special operations. He became skilled as a SOG (study & observations group) operations officer, a necessary concomitant he later was quoted as saying. In 1993 his father granted him time to go to the US where he was invited for tryouts at the Steven Austin Football Camp held at Georgia Tech University but his father had other intentions as he knew that his son also would establish a successful marketing firm in the states as well. According to NFL agents Jevonnes had one of the most impressive statistic sheets. A tall handsome Nigerian, he stood 6’3” and weighed 252 lbs. He bench pressed 500lbs, could leap to the sky (40 inch vertical jump) and had astonishing speed for a man his size (4.39 / 4.45) 40 yard dash speed. He preferred the position of Line Backer but could have been an outstanding running back because of his great speed and agility. He was a great prospect and his agent had arranged for him to play on a semi-pro team in New York to show- case his talent there rather than risk being injured at the college level as he was past his college prime. Jevonne was far above that level of talent and his size and speed made him an overwhelming standout. By this time pro scouts were drooling and he and his agents had engaged in negotiations with several teams.
His agent had managed to bring tentative deals together with both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills of the NFL and also the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. He allegedly had been offered a contract with Buffalo in the neighborhood of two to three million which is amazing considering that he had not played American Football at the college level. However the great potential of his athletic career were stalled by obligations to his father’s business and his own understanding of the tremendous wealth that he stood to loose by leaving his obligations. It is debated weather his father’s political views and affiliations with President Olusegun Obasanjo regime, given the current level of corruption may have swayed opinions of high level owners and officials of pro organizations. Jevonnes has since changed his name and settled in the US as an entrepreneur and business man under his American name; Jon Hull or John Hail.
