Fifth-generation computing
Appearance
I found this empty page when following a dead link leading to information on 5th generation computing. To share my little konwledge and to get rid of the dead link, here what I know. Hopefully an expert can give a more profound definition.
5th generation refers to the new idea to use more and more intelligent IDEs (Integrated Development Environments) for programming. For instance when you make an object oriented application by dragging and dropping little icons from one window to another one, or that you select properties for an object using a "properties" window. Maybe the best known example is Microsoft's Visual Java, Visual C#, Visual this, and Visual that.
