A family of operating systems, with associated libraries, user interface frameworks and reference implementations of common tools, produced by Symbian (company). Symbian OS is avilable in various forms for hand-held devices with different form factors: clam-shell or tablet, keyboard and/or pen, PDA or mobile phone, etc.

All Symbian OS platforms derive more or less closely from release 5 of the EPOC operating system.
