A digital duplicator uses an advanced version of the technology that could previously be found in mimeograph machines. Digital duplicators are very effective at reproducing multiple copies (20 or more) of the same original, due to their high speed and cost efficiency.

First the original image is scanned and etched onto a thin, resin-coated master, or stencil. Then the master is wrapped around a high-speed drum that rotates, transferring the image onto paper by squeezing ink through specially designed holes in the master.
