Open circuit

Open circuit can mean:

In electronics:

• The absence of a load through which electric current would otherwise flow, as used in:
  • Open-circuit voltage, the difference of electrical potential between two terminals of a device when there is no external load connected

In breathing set design:

• A set where the user breathes from the set and then exhales to the surroundings without recycling the exhaled air or gas, as used in:
  • Open-circuit scuba
  • Self-contained breathing apparatus
