ResCode

ResCode is a Residential design code implemented by the Bracks (ALP) government, in Victoria, Australia. It is applicable to the greater Melbourne area, and is designed to foster higher densities within the existing suburbs by allowing higher density developments.

ResCode is a more conservative regime than was previously in place under the Kennett Liberal Government, and it takes into account local community objections to higher density development.

Critics of ResCode argue that it is simply a tool to force higher densities; most of the time opposition to higher density development is overlooked in the development process.

Rescode ties in with the Bracks Government's Melbourne 2030 development plan.
