From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Xaosflux (talk | contribs) at 23:17, 25 July 2007 ([[User:Android Mouse Bot|Android Mouse Bot]]: +trial). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Operator: Android Mouse

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic

Programming Language(s): C

Function Summary: Replace tags at the top of articles with with Template:Articleissues.

Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): Continous

Edit rate requested: 7 edits per minute

Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y

Function Details: This bot will scan the "what links here" pages to find transclusions for all of the templates used in the articleissues template (POV, criticisms, OR, primarysources, etc). It will then find articles which have at least 3 templates used, load the article text and see if the templates are all used at the top of the article. If so, it would replace the individual templates with the articleissues template with the proper parameters and dates.

Discussion

Bot not yet written. I'd like to hear comments or potential issues with this idea before I start. Note that this request has nothing to do with the previous uses of this account, since those tasks are all inactive. --Android Mouse 01:57, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds fun. And I do appreciate that it will be cutting down on the clutter of tags at the top of an article. I hate it when I go to read an article and I have to scroll halfway down the page just to start reading. The only thing better than consolidating them would be moving them to the talk page. --Cyde Weys 19:20, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What will happen when there's two tags at the top of the article, and one specifically used in a section (as far as I can tell, we do have specific section templates)? Daniel 08:03, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It will only edit the page if all three tags occur before the first section (the first occurance of "=="). --Android Mouse 19:29, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
