id Tech5 is a new game engine from id software revealed at the Macworld Conference in 2007.
John Carmack in his demonstration at Macworld claimed that Tech5 practically removes the texture memory constraints, allowing the engine to load as much as 20 GB of data without any notable performance loss.[1][2]
At the moment little is known about the engine other than which platforms it runs on, however, more information will be revealed at the upcoming QuakeCon
