Needs more work. The number of bits for each format needs to be specified, examples need to be given. If this is read by anyone working on the standard, this is the first time I bothered to read it, and it took me about 5 minutes to see that this is a replay of Intel/DEC only this time it is Intel/IBM with the same good guy. If I can see through it I think the rest of the industry will also. Densely Packed Decimal, come on wasting bits for what? Using a format IBM has a patent on, no noone will go for that. Using a format that is harder to understand, no noone will go for that. Using a format that wastes bits, the sad thing is the better format is being limited by the nonsense, I wonder how long that lasts.Charles Esson 03:58, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
