  • Wikipedia reaches ninth place on Alexa -- still a long way behind Orkut, but catching up. Alexa statistics say that:
    • 6.3% of Internet users read Wikipedia
    • Wikipedia accounts for nearly half of one percent all page views on the Internet
    • Wikipedia reaches more users than the 6th-, 7th- and 8th-ranked sites: (MySpace, Baidu and Orkut, respectively)
  • Wikimedia Commons reaches 1.5 Million media files. The last time milestone was celebrated on November 30th, 2006 with a bloody big mosaic; it's taken just 184 days to add a further 500,000 files.
  • Second Wikipedia Disc for Children released -- volunteers of the English Wikipedia and SOS Children UK have released the next version of their offline release, this time weighing in at 3.5GB compared to the <200MB of the first release.
