Ganoderma tsugae, also known as Hemlock varnish shelf, is a flat polypore mushroom. In contrast to Ganoderma lucidum, with which it is closely related and which it closely resembles, G. tsugae grows on conifers, especially hemlocks.[1] Like G. lucidum, G. tsugae is said to have medicinal properties.[2] The species is generally considered inedible (though not poisonous), due to its solid woody nature; however, some devotees have reported making ganoderma tea from its fruiting bodies.[3]
