The former link Similarity Metrics was simply a synonym for this article. It did not need to be linked or a new article created. Wikipedia has a redirect feature which is more appropriate. This means that a page will forward the user to a different article.

The second former link Edit Distance was just linked to when its synonym Levenshtein Distance was given. I don't think it needs to be linked twice. Again consider creating a redirect for Edit Distance to point to Levenshtein Distance
