Talk:Trajectory optimization
Rewrite needed
I think that this version of the article still needs a rewrite, as right now it cites no references, and goes from a one-sentence overview into consideration of specific examples, while barely touching on methodology. My suggestion would be something along the lines of the following, broken down by section:
- Trajectory optimization is X. It was developed in (timespan) for (applications), and has since been extended for (applications).
- Methods used for trajectory optimization are (list). Brief overview of each, linking appropriate math articles (including optimization (mathematics)).
- Noteworthy specific cases of trajectory optimization.
- References.
I'm open to suggestions. As it stands, I'm not even sure this should be its own article, vs. a redirect to optimization (mathematics). References might change that. --Christopher Thomas 06:47, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
That is a good outline but I would say that this has a one sentence plus a one paragraph overview. Mangogirl2 02:06, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Also, I know much of the history of which you seek but the problem is that there does not exist a "refeered" version of such a history and it clash with the Wikipedia no "original research" rule" . The few broad view histories of trajectory optimization have been rather biased in the attempt to give the writer a prominent place in the history of trajectory optimization. I was lucky to study under one of the greats who passed the history on to me but unfortunately the history is contained in my hand written notes.Mangogirl2 18:35, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
