Allen is an English rock band formed in West London in 2006. The band currently consists of Kirk Allen (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards, piano), Freya Collins (guitar, keyboards, piano, backing vocals), Walter Gervers (bass guitar), and Jack Bevan (drums, percussion). Former members include Jason Orange (guitar, backing vocals), Nathan Connolly (guitar, backing vocals), Timothy Lanham (guitar, keyboards, piano, backing vocals), Justin Harris (keyboards, piano, backing vocals), Jed Allen (drums, percussion, backing vocals), and Elle Allen (guitar, keyboards, piano, backing vocals).

The band had released six studio albums What Did U Expect From The Allen’s (2009), We Don’t Need To Whisper (2012), Gravity Falls (2014), Little Dreamer (2017), Allen (2023) and Everyday an Eternity (2025). With the band has gone multiple lineup changes with Kirk Allen is the only remaining member of the band who has appeared on all studio albums consistently.

Allen have toured extensively, playing with and opening up for acts such as Coldplay, The Vaccines, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Snow Patrol, Imagine Dragons, and Muse.

History

The band was formed in West London in the summer of 2006, With The Founding Members consisting of brothers of Kirk and Jed Allen they started out as a cover band such as covering Blink-182, Panic! At The Disco and Green Day songs. The band named was called Allen it was named after Jed and Kirk’s name and also the surname of the singer Lily Allen.

In November 2007, The duo recruited Nathan Connolly and Jason Orange as guitarists and they both joined the band.

In 2009, the band recorded and released their first debut album "What Did U Expect From The Allen’s" with the three singles released such as "Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off", "Build God, Then We'll Talk" and "Let's Kill Tonight".

In 28th March 2010, Kirk and Jed Allen announced that their guitarist Nathan Connolly left the band in order to continue his work with Snow Patrol, later after his departure Connolly was replaced by keyboardist and guitarist Timothy Lanham.

In 3rd September 2012, the band has released their second album "We Don’t Need To Whisper" with their four singles released such as "Bad Mood", "The Road (Run For Miles)", "Weatherman" and "No Hope".

In 27th December 2013, Orange announced that he has officially left the band in order to continue with his other projects and also to spend more time with his family and also living in the quiet life in a countryside. Afterwards after Orange’s departure the band recruited Justin Harris on Keyboards for the band and decided they will carry on as a four-piece with Harris joined as a permanent member of the band.

In 31st October 2014, the band released their third studio album "Gravity Falls" with two singles were released such as "The Narcissist" and "Royal Morning Blue".

In 25th August 2015, Jed Allen, Timothy Lanham and Justin Harris have left the band due to backstage tension with all other members of the band and citing exhaustion and also touring burnout. Afterwards after Allen, Lanham and Harris’s departure they were replaced by Freya Collins who joined the band as a touring member in 2012 and appeared as a official member of the band in 2015 and also the same day while Jed is departing, Kirk Allen has just said Jed will come back to the band anytime he wants too once he left the door open to rejoin. Later on the band will continue on as a duo with Javier Weyler and Adam Zindani joined as touring members of the band.

In 19th May 2017 the band released their fourth studio album "Little Dreamer" with five singles we’re released such as "The Wolfpack", "Paralyzed", "Teenagers & Rituals", "Tunnels" and "Home Is Such a Lonely Place". And it was recorded entirely as a duo with Kirk Allen and Freya Collins as multi-instrumentalists.

In 2018, The band released their two standalone singles called "Bullets In The Wind" and "Rut".

In 6th February 2019, Allen have announced that Jed Allen and Jason Orange has officially returned to the band and they'll appear on Little Dreamer tour with them.

In 21st August 2020, Kirk Allen, Freya Collins and Jed Allen have posted on Twitter that the band has some plans to work on their new album and upcoming material next year.

On 4th August 2021, The band has posted on their social media accounts that the band has working on their fifth album, but when the band entered the studio to record new music, their lineup was reduced into three-piece core of Kirk Allen, Freya Collins and Jed Allen with no statement was confirmed or given by the band or Orange himself about his retirement from the band back in 2014 due to creative differences from the band and himself. The same day it was later confirmed by producer John Feldmann that Jason Orange wasn’t participate or interest on working on new music, and he was still not rejoining to the band which would later lead to his departure from the band. Later the same month that the band had signed to Relentless Records.

In 2023, the band released their first studio album since their return of Jed Allen as a original member and also first to be recorded as a trio with the released of their fifth album "Allen" with singles we’re released such as "Sleeping In", "Spitting Games", "Modern Love", "Sleepwalking", "Restless Souls", "All That’s Left Is Love", "Dare You To Move", "One Little Lie" and "Fix You" in 2021, 2022 and 2023 respectively. And they also announced their upcoming tour called "Modern Love and the Spitting Games Tour" with rhythm guitarist Elle Allen who was replacing Jason Orange earlier in 2021 would join the band as a touring member.

On 17th May 2024, Kirk Allen announced that the band was in the process of writing their sixth album.

On 24th May 2024, the band posted a short video of themselves in the studio to their social media. This was preceded by a number of images which all included with their touring rhythm guitarist Elle Allen leading fans and various media outlets to speculate of Elle Allen to join the band. On 29th May 2024, Elle Allen was featured yet again in a picture uploaded to social media, this time recording the rhythm parts for the guitar, confirming that she would be recording a rhythm guitar for the album, though he later clarified that she was only recording guitar for the album and that she had not joined the band as a official member. Despite this, on 17th June 2024, Kirk Allen and Freya Collins announced that Elle Allen would joined the band as the official member.

On 30th July 2024, Kirk and Jed Allen announced on the band's social media accounts that the band had finished their sixth album in time to release their sixth album next year in 2025 that will be their first album to feature Elle Allen on rhythm guitar.

On 20th August 2024, Allen released their lead single from their upcoming sixth studio album "You're All I Have" this is their first single to feature their guitarist Elle Allen who joined the band in June 2024.

On 24th October 2024, Lead singer and bassist Kirk Allen and guitarist Freya Collins have teased their songs from their upcoming sixth studio album, along with their second single "Feels Like I’m Falling In Love" was released on the same day with music video release on 16th November 2024.

On 16th November 2024, the band revealed their album title called "Safe in the Sound" and revealed their release date at 4th April 2025.

On 21st November 2024, the band released their third single "This Is Gospel" along with the music video which was released on the same day as a song release.

On January 2025, Kirk Allen announced on instagram post on New Year’s Day that the band would be releasing some more music this year and Kirk Allen has also announced that the band would releasing in a new album in 4 months time and he is also announced that the band will be recording more music and their seventh album in the future in September 2025 just 5 months after the album was released.

On 30th January 2025, the band released their fourth single "Hey Now" with music video released on 31st January 2025.

Ob 7th February 2025, the band released their fifth single "Ash and Ember" with music video released on 28th February 2025.

On 7th March 2025, the band released their sixth single "Stand On My Own" with music video released on 28th March 2025.

On 4th April 2025, the band released their sixth studio album with album titled "Everyday an Eternity" as the same time as a album release the band released their seventh and final single "Steal Your Heart" with music video released on 11th April 2025.

On 19th July 2025, due to unforeseen circumstances and creative differences from the band and herself, Elle Allen left the band due to family issues, Jed Allen had also leave the band in order to continue his study for his university in Greenwich. Shortly afterwards, Jack Bevan from the band Foals, and also Kirk’s current band Bone Patrol, and Walter Gervers also from the band Foals replacing Jed and Elle Allen, with Kirk Allen switching to rhythm guitar duties and Walter Gervers taking over Kirk's bass duties.

On 1st August 2025, the band released their first song to feature new bassist Walter Gervers and new drummer Jack Bevan with their new song "Use Somebody".

On 8th September 2025, the band released their new song "Oh No!" and announced their first live performance with new bassist Walter Gervers and new drummer Jack Bevan who have both joined the band in July 2025.

On the same day as a song release and their first live performance announcement, Kirk Allen has announced that the band has entered to record their seventh studio album and set to release in January 2026. Meanwhile, Kirk had also announced that Kirk and Freya had a good start of planning making a seventh studio album together and that will be their first studio album to feature Walter Gervers and Jack Bevan as a new permanent members of the band who joined the band last summer in July 2025, it was clear that "Oh No!" and "Use Somebody" will appear on the seventh studio album.

On 15th October 2025, the band released their new single "Anything" which confirmed to be appeared on the album, but Kirk Allen has been confirmed that the song won’t be appearing on the album instead releases as a non-album single.

On 17th October 2025, the band released their second non-album single "Kiss & Tell".

On 23rd October 2025, the band released their first single titled "Greatest Day" on the same day as a their song release the band announces their album titled "Beautiful World" which is set to release in 29th January 2026 which will be their first album to feature their new permanent members Walter Gervers and Jack Bevan who have both joined the band in the summer on 19th July 2025.

On 21st November 2025, the band released their second single "The Climb".
