Auto-refresh

This is my suggestion for a feature addition: Adding an auto-refresh feature, like Recent changes, for contributions. This would be good for those who want to fight users who keep vandalizing articles. - Master of Hedgehogs (converse) (hate that hedgehog!) 12:32, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:andrybak/Scripts/Contribs ranger.js is a user script, which makes it easier to use &offset= and &limit= in URLs to contribs. A month ago I looked for such tools and couldn't find any, so made my own. Ping to PrimeHunter, who participated in that discussion.

I've also included a link to Wikipedia:User scripts/List#Contributions in the "See also" section. Plus, watchers of this page might find the script useful. —andrybak (talk) 22:25, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

question about My Contributions

i hope this is the right place to ask this question.

What happened to the link to My Contributions? i think it used to be in a drop-down menu near the Log in link, similar to the way Wiktionary still has it, and it would take non-logged-in users to [[Special:Contributions/###]] but automatically replacing ### with the current IP address. If i need to, i can still go to the Wikipedia:Sandbox and Preview an Edit including "~~~~" and get the link that way, but the other way was more convenient.

Posting the above gave me a pop-up link to Mw:Special:MyLanguage/Help:Temporary_accounts. Haven't found an answer to my question yet but will look closer. --~2025-31227-53 (talk) 15:05, 4 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And that post gave me a new header with the drop-down menu i was asking about...
i wonder what Wikipedia will look like on my phone...

On the desktop, I believe you should be able to click the three dots at the top-right corner, then select 'Contributions'. Going to Special:MyContributions should work too, as far as I know. Also, we did away with IPs! Editors who aren't logged in have a temporary account instead of publicly displaying their IP address. Sunmist (talk) 15:21, 4 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 9 November 2025

Under user contributions pages > Accessing

  • Change the subheading "Contributions of an IP address" to "Contributions of an unregistered user"
  • Change "(who is, as of 2025, identified by IP address)" to "(who were identified by their IP address until temporary accounts were enabled on 4 November 2025)"
  • Replace all other instances of "IP address" in this subsection with "temporary account"

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit semi-protected}} template. NotJamestack (talk) 14:29, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The page certainly needs updates, but I think most of the material about IP addresses needs to stay. Contributions made before 4 November still need to be explained. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:45, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think the second bullet point of my suggested edit already provides enough historical context for anyone wishing to learn how things work now, and that a more detailed discussion of how things used to work should have its own section, if it even needs to be added at all, because incorporating something like that into the section in question would likely lead to confusion among inexperienced readers (seemingly the target audience of this type of page). ~2025-32296-61 (talk) 18:21, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
