Camdrome is an internet creepypasta created by Edmund Mcmillen and released at the 2013 PAX Prime event through a cinematic trailer. The video went viral due to the mysteries surrounding its plot, which created a series of theories on social media.

History

During coverage of PAX Prime 2013, a trailer for a project called Camdrome was shown on one of the event's TVs, along with other game trailers. The video showed disturbing images of a blood-stained monitor showing recordings footage from a fictional chat program called Camdrome. In this chat, a user met unknown people, who were quickly interrupted by the intervention of a masked killer dressed in a doll mask. The killer killed his victims abruptly, what created an atmosphere of mystery. The video's plot generated a great deal of speculation about its origin and meaning.[1] [2]

Reception

Social media and a website were created under the video's name. After the occurence, it was discovered that the trailer's producers were Team Meat, including Edmund McMillen, who stated that Camdrome was a video game project he was working on to use the live-action footage.[3] [4]

Camdrome appeared as a easter egg in the 2015 investigation game Fingered, where if the user entered the website's name in the search bar, the video's villain appeared as a haunting.
