webMethods Glue is an enterprise webServices platform from webMethods to provide web services/SOAP capabilities to existing java and c/c++ applications.[1]

The product enables developers to add enterprise web services integration to their legacy applications with little or no programming effort.[1] It is intended as an embeddable product to quickly turn a non web service enabled application into one which exposes functionality as web services.[2]

Product Features

The following are the features of webMethods Glue[3]

  • little or no coding to expose application functionality as webServices
  • standalone operation if required (does not require an application server)
  • fast local messaging
  • transparent Java/XML integration
  • web services standards support

Product History

Acquired by webMethods as part of the merger with The Mind Electric[4], the product was at the time simply called "GLUE". The merger resulted in a rebranding of the product with the webMethods prefix to become "webMethods Glue".[5]

Technologies/Standards

HTTP, Servlets, XML, SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI[1]
