QuikrStuff LLC is an American manufacturing company based in Grand Junction, Colorado, that specializes in modular, hitch-mounted bicycle racks. The company was established in 2020 and is known for the Quik Rach Mach2, a toolless bike rack designed to transport conventional and electric bicycles. The design is based on a system developed by inventor Cal M. Phillips, whose earlier work included the 1UP USA Quik Rack.[1]
History
QuikrStuff was founded after Bryan Wachs, then CEO of a digital marketing firm, encountered a website offering licensing rights for a patented bike rack system designed by Cal Phillips, a prolific inventor in the field of bicycle transportation systems.[2] Phillips had previously created the 1Up USA Quik Rack, a popular direct-to-consumer bike rack developed in the early 2000s.[3]
Wachs partnered with J.T. Westcott, owner of Intrawest Machine & Fabrication, and formed QuikrStuff to commercialize a redesigned version of Phillips’ system, ultimately launching the QuikrStuff Mach2 rack.[4] The company formally began operations in 2020 and sold out its first 100 units in a matter of days, later filling over $290,000 worth of backorders.[4][5]

QuikrStuff Mach2
The company’s flagship product is the Mach2, a fully modular, hitch-mounted bike rack made of machined aluminium. It requires no tools for installation or adjustment and can carry up to four bikes, including heavier e-bikes, with a total weight capacity of 300 lbs, ranging from 120 lbs (single tray) or two trays; 240 lbs to 185 lbs (four trays).
The Mach2 features a proprietary anti-wobble hitch system, integrated locks, and optional ramps for loading electric bikes. The design is based on multiple patents held by Cal Phillips, including tool-free retention arms and foldable tray systems.[3] Each component is manufactured and assembled in the United States.[6]
The rack has received positive reviews from outlets such as GearJunkie, which called it “the nicest bike rack I’ve ever seen,” and Mountain Bike Action Magazine, which rated it 4.5 out of 5 stars.[5]
Manufacturing and Funding
QuikrStuff’s manufacturing is based entirely in Colorado, primarily at Intrawest Machine & Fabrication. The company was awarded a $150,000 Early-Stage Capital and Retention Grant from the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) to support automation and production scale-up, as well as a further $100,000 Proof of Concept Grant.[7] It also received a CLIMBER loan from Energize Colorado to expand factory space and reduce order lead times following supply chain disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Almost all of the materials used in the Mach2 are sourced domestically, a strategy designed to avoid overseas tariffs and supply volatility.[8]
Reception and Impact
QuikrStuff has been featured in publications such as The Business Times, The Hustle, and the US Manufacturing Report for its innovations in U.S.-based manufacturing and product design.[8] The brand has cultivated a niche following, often associated with former users of the original Quik Rack.[6]
It has also been recognized as a finalist for the Colorado Companies to Watch award.[9]
