Primary transcript is an RNA molecule that has not yet undergone any modification after its synthesis. After splicing the transcript forms messanger RNAs, ribosomal RNAs, transfer RNAs, or ribozymes. Primary transcripts of messanger RNAs are also called Pre-mRNAs.
