Dr. George Didi Bhoka
Dr. George Didi Bhoka (born in Obongi District, Uganda) is a Ugandan medical doctor, public health expert, and politician. He currently serves as the Member of Parliament for Obongi County and has played a significant role in Uganda’s health sector, humanitarian response, and political landscape.
Early Life and Background
Dr. George Didi Bhoka was born in Obongi District, located in the West Nile sub-region of Uganda. He hails from the Gimara ethnic group. His upbringing in a community that frequently dealt with displacement and limited access to healthcare deeply influenced his decision to pursue a career in medicine and public service.
Education
Dr. Bhoka pursued his primary and secondary education in Uganda. He later joined Makerere University, where he studied Human Medicine and went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the Uganda Christian University. He has also undertaken various certifications and training related to humanitarian response and international public health.
Medical and Humanitarian Career
Before joining politics, Dr. Bhoka served with distinction as a public health specialist, working in several districts including Arua, Adjumani, and Moyo. He was heavily involved in refugee response programs, focusing on health systems strengthening and disease control. He worked with key health and humanitarian organizations including UNHCR and Ministry of Health Uganda, where he held senior positions that shaped policy in refugee settlements and host communities.
Political Career
Dr. Bhoka entered politics in the lead-up to the 2021 General Elections and successfully contested for the seat of Member of Parliament representing Obongi County. As a member of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, he has been instrumental in advocating for equitable development, refugee support programs, and improved healthcare services for underserved communities.
In July 2025, Dr. Bhoka won the NRM party primaries again, securing his position as the party flag bearer ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Advocated for the construction and improvement of health centers in Obongi District.
Led health interventions for refugees in Palorinya Settlement.
Played a key role in coordinating COVID-19 responses in West Nile.
Contributed to education and youth empowerment projects in the region.

Dr. George Didi Bhoka is married and has one child. He is known for his humility, commitment to public service, and devotion to community transformation.
