Missing context and examples

[edit]

This article covers the history of the academic literature but doesn’t explain enough background context or provide any examples for the literature overview to be meaningful to a general reader with background in computer science or general applied maths. Visual diagrams or code/pseudocode would go a long way here.

The conceptual relationship to level sets in mathematics and the use of this data structure in computer graphics and simulation (adaptive mesh refinement) could be developed further so that there is more clarity on basic questions of what, why, and how.
