Sentient Computing is a privately held software development company based in Perth, Western Australia. Founded in 2007, the business specializes in digital twins, virtual reality and augmented reality training (AR/VR), 3D visualizations, and SCADA/HMI solutions, primarily serving the mining, energy, and industrial sectors.

History

Sentient Computing was founded by a team of three in 2007 in Balcatta, Perth. Over 18 years it expanded to a team of more than 40 engineers, developers, artists, and project managers. The company is now located in Perth CBD and has delivered over 250 solutions to more than 60 clients globally.

Sentient’s core offerings include:

  • Digital Twins: The InDI platform integrates existing data ERP, SCADA, ERP, IoT into 3D virtual models for asset monitoring and remote operation
  • Virtual & Augmented Reality Training (Training‑XR): Custom VR modules (e.g. hazard recognition, fire extinguishers, working‑at‑heights) coupled with SCORM‑compliant e‑learning
  • Stakeholder Engagement (MaVi): Interactive 3D maps combining satellite, drone, GIS, and animations to support heritage and environmental communications
  • Process Control (MacroView): A SCADA/HMI/IIoT interface for real-time monitoring of industrial processes
  • 3D Animations & Video Production: Visual tools and videos for training, sales, and communication across mining, healthcare, and education

Notable Projects

  • Delivered immersive VR training modules for Rio Tinto’s Gudai‑Darri mine, including high‑voltage switching and fatigue management, used remotely before the mine’s construction.
