iBeesoft Data Recovery is a file recovery tool with separate versions for Windows and macOS. It primarily focuses on recovering deleted and lost files from storage devices, such as internal and external hard disks, USB flash drives, memory cards, etc.[1][2][3]
For Windows: Free version (recovers up to 2GB of data) and paid version (only allows preview of found files).
For Mac: There is only one version, which can save up to 500 MB of recoverable files for free. However, it also provides data backup (enabling the creation of an image of a damaged storage device to extract its files) and video repair functions.
Both Lifewire[4] and MacWorld[5] describe iBeesoft Data Recovery as an easy-to-use and effective utility for file retrieval.
Features
Applicable Data Loss Scenarios: accidental deletion, emptying the Recycle Bin/Trash, formatting or reformatting the drive, virus attack, system or program crash, interruption or failure of file transfer or editing, hard drive logical errors (requires formatting before use, does not appear in the File Explorer/Finder or other error messages pop up)
Supported File Systems/Storage Devices: storage devices based on file systems such as NTFS/NTFS+, FAT12/16/32, exFAT, ReFS, EXT2/3/4, HFS/HFS+, APFS, etc.
Recoverable File Types: documents, pictures, videos, audio, archive files, executable files, or any other known data formats.
Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP and later, Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) and later.
Featured Algorithms Used
1. File Repair Algorithm: Before enumerating the found office documents (such as doc/docx, xls/xlsx, ppt/pptx) and pictures, this algorithm checks the metadata and attempts to repair the damaged parts to maximize file integrity.
2. Video fragment reconstruction algorithm: The video storage methods of main brands' digital devices, such as Canon, DJI, Sony, Panasonic, GoPro, etc., are respectively optimized to reduce the issue of recovered videos not playing.
3. $MFT Lost Partition Analyzing Algorithm: Pre-locate the $MFT and then continue the file system metadata analysis, such as analyzing the BPB information in the Boot to deduce the starting position of the partition. It is very helpful in resolving data loss issues when the partition table is damaged, but the $MFT is not overwritten.
4. FAT Table Reorganization Algorithm: By analyzing the data information of discrete FAT table sectors to build a complete FAT table. It can solve the problem that fragmented files cannot be restored after the FAT table is lost.
5. FAT32 High 16-bit Missing Filling Algorithm: In the FAT32 file system, deleted files will have the high 16 bits of the starting cluster cleared. If the cluster is not filled, the recovered data will be unusable. This algorithm compensates for this deficiency.
6. NTFS Log Search Algorithm: Analyzes all operation logs, such as new, removed, and other practical operations, in the NTFS file system to rebuild metadata and data blocks. By this, it has increased the probability of file recovery.
7. HFS+ and APFS Decryption Algorithms: Generate corresponding decryption algorithms by identifying the type of encrypted volume, encryption parameters, and other information to restore the user's original data as much as possible.
8. Double Buffer IO Algorithm: Uses double buffer technology to increase the speed of analyzing storage device sector data to reduce waiting time.
9. Bitmap Algorithm: Pre-build the sectors occupied by metadata during the quick scan so as to avoid re-analyzing these sectors after the program processes the deep scan.
