Dr. Gireeshan .P
Born in 1978 in the vibrant coastal town of Vatakara, he was raised in a humble and respected low middle class family as the beloved son of Changaroth Achuthen and Narayani. From an early age, he displayed a curious mind towards study and strong sense of discipline, which helped him shape his journey through life. He completed 1st to 7th standard in cheenamveed school then he began his formal education at the Technical High School [THS] , where he completed his 10th standard. The school has a strict discipline which helped him to learn more about discipline as we say learning never ends the school often concentrated on practical skills and technical knowledge helped him develop a solid foundation, not just academically, but also in terms of work ethic and perseverance.
After successfully completing high school, he went on to pursue his Pre-Degree studies at Madappally College—renowned for being the only government college in Vadakara. It was here that he truly came into his own, excelling in academics and gaining the admiration of his peers and professors alike. His dedication and performance were exceptional, earning him a reputation as a promising young scholar.
Motivated by his passion for learning and his deep connection to the institution, he chose to continue his academic journey at the very same college, enrolling in a degree program in 1998. This decision marked a significant chapter in his life, one that laid the groundwork for his future aspirations.
PROFESSION
After completing his academic pursuits, he began his professional career at Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT), one of India's premier public sector enterprises. Here, he worked as a training apprentice for one and a half years, gaining valuable technical and hands-on experience in the industrial sector. This foundational period helped shape his discipline, work ethic, and passion for serving in challenging environments.
Driven by a strong sense of duty and ambition, he successfully cleared the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) examination and joined the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as a Sub-Inspector. His first major posting was at the Indian Iron and Steel Plant (ISP) in Burnpur, West Bengal, a massive facility operated by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). ISP Burnpur is among the largest and oldest steel plants in the country, and here, he played a crucial role in maintaining security, managing industrial safety protocols, and coordinating with plant officials during high-risk operations.
After his successful tenure at ISP Burnpur, he was transferred to Delhi International Airport, one of the busiest and most strategically important airports in India. In this high-pressure environment, he was responsible for ensuring the safety of passengers, infrastructure, and cargo, working closely with intelligence units and aviation authorities to prevent any potential threats.
His commitment to national service and emergency response led him to volunteer for deputation with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) — India’s elite disaster response agency. Selected for this prestigious assignment, he underwent rigorous training and participated in several high-risk operations, including rescue and relief missions during natural calamities and industrial disasters. His exceptional performance and leadership potential were soon recognized, and he was selected as an Assistant Commandant through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) — a testament to his dedication and capability.
In the later phase of his career, he served at the Obra Thermal Power Project (OTHPP) in Uttar Pradesh, a major electricity generation site. Here, he continued to contribute through his expertise in industrial security, crisis management, and inter-agency coordination.
Today, he serves as a Deputy Commandant, a rank that reflects his years of dedication, hard-earned experience, and unwavering commitment to the safety and service of the nation. His journey stands as an inspiring example of perseverance, discipline, and public service.
QUALIFICATIONS
Despite the demanding nature of his professional duties, he never lost his *thirst for knowledge* or his *passion for continuous learning*. With a deep belief in personal growth and intellectual development, he relentlessly pursued higher education alongside his service to the nation.
In *2006–2008, he enrolled at *Annamalai University* to pursue a *Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations*, laying the foundation for his understanding of organizational behavior, employee welfare, and industrial dispute resolution.
Following this, he undertook a long-term commitment to academic advancement by enrolling in a *Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Human Resource Management* from *2007 to 2012*. Through this program, he deepened his knowledge in HR strategy, talent management, leadership, and organizational development—skills that became invaluable in his leadership roles within the CISF and NDRF.
Recognizing the importance of legal and behavioral sciences in the field of policing and public safety, he went on to complete a *Master’s degree in Criminology and Police Administration* between *2012 and 2014*. This academic pursuit enhanced his insight into criminal behavior, policing strategies, and justice system reforms.
His educational journey with *Annamalai University* continued, as he completed another postgraduate degree—*M.A. in Labour Management* in *2017*. This program enriched his understanding of industrial laws, labor welfare schemes, and workforce regulation in both public and private sectors.
Not stopping there, he further pursued an *M.A. in Public Administration, which he completed in **2019*, focusing on the principles of governance, public policy, administrative law, and the functioning of civil services in India.
His academic pursuits culminated in the attainment of the *highest academic qualification — a Ph.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice* from *Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, **Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu*. His doctoral research contributed to the academic discourse on criminal justice systems, crime prevention, rehabilitation, and policy formulation.
Even after achieving such an esteemed academic milestone, his pursuit of knowledge continued. He enrolled in an *M.A. in Mass Communication* from *Gondwana University, covering the period **2023–2025*, to explore the dynamics of media, communication theory, journalism, and public discourse—vital in today’s digitally connected world.
Currently, he is engaged in yet another scholarly endeavor, pursuing an *M.A. in Education* from *IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University)*. This course reflects his growing interest in pedagogy, curriculum development, and educational leadership, further expanding his interdisciplinary academic profile.
Through all these achievements, he exemplifies the spirit of *lifelong learning*, setting a powerful example of how one can balance a high-pressure career in public service with consistent and meaningful academic growth.
