The 36th Locarno Film Festival was held from 5 to 14 August 1983 in Locarno, Switzerland.[1] A new section and competition for TV movies was introduced this year.[1][2] Ninety-four TV films were submitted with eighteen being selected for the competition, in-all around 70 TV movies were screened at the festival.[1][2]
The Golden Leopard, the festival's top prize, was awarded to
David Strieff sole authority over the festival again. The clash between the jury and festival organizers last year, apparently due to the conflicting nature of art and commerce at the festival. Unlike in the year before, all films were show under the same conditions and screen, with bigger title in competition unable to be show in the Piazza grande, the 5,000 seat open area theater errected in the town square.
