Grass ported to other platforms??
"The last version of GRASS was RT/1, a port of GRASS to other platforms that divorced the language from the display model and allowed it to be ported to other platforms. Versions existed for DOS, Windows, SGI platform using OpenGL, HP-UX, AIX, Macintosh and Amiga."
Where did this information come from? I've tired myself out looking for ports of grass/Zgrass to other platforms with zero results. The only information I've found about a port is this Wikipedia page, or other sources that simply link to this page.
- @76.108.128.204: I don't know if you'll get this ping, but fingers crossed. I don't recall the original page where I found the information on RT/1, but there are a number of mentions in places like this, this and this. Some of these mentions the port to the Mac and PC. Development OS and language?
Does anyone know what OS and language were used for the original development? Only the hardware is mentioned. The citation for that (DeFanti 1980, Byte magazine) intimates on page 100 that the OS was Bell Labs UNIX, but no language was mentioned (but the name FORTRAN was bandied about) BMJ-pdx (talk) 17:36, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
