SmartFoxServer is a free to use (with exceptions) Server Framework for Java, Python, and JavaScript. It also comes with several Client SDKs such as C++, C#, JavaScript, and several others.

History

2004

SmartFoxServer was founded and released by the Italian Game Developer Company GotoAndPlay in the Summer of 2004 in the GotoAndPlay Multiplayer Central with huge success, with an educational version called SmartFoxServer Lite with hundreds of free Tutorials for Developers that want to create Multiplayer Games.

A couple of Months afterwards, the full version called SmartFoxServer Basic and SmartFoxServer PRO released.

2010

In 2010, SmartFoxServer 2X was released, which is an improved version with more features of SmartFoxServer PRO, which is now their most Popular Product of the series.

2020

In November 2020, the SmartFoxServer Team released Overcast, which is a Paid Cloud Service that allows hosting of SmartFoxServer 2X Instances in the Cloud.

Licenses

By Default, SmartFoxServer 2X gives you a free Community Edition License which allows you to have up to 100 CCU.

Elastic Licenses are based on a Pre-Paid Rechargeable Credit that will be charged on a daily basis with the amount variating based on the Licenses Maximum CCU.

Perpetual Licenses are a One Time Fee Forever lasting license that can reach a Fixed Amount of CCU which is upgradable by paying a Price Difference.
