Honestly, I don’t know whether there is any meaningful sense in defining "context" as a set of data used by a task that must be saved and restored. While this resembles the idea of a "context switch,".
Every process or thread has a "state" which consists of their respective data that define their identity. "Context" seems to be an abstraction of the OS at a level that makes sense from the application’s perspective, such as resources, device environments, and adaptations related to them.
Perhaps it makes sense to use "Task Context" instead of just "context." Both terms appear to represent abstractions at a higher level in the computer hierarchy, possibly at the application level or in high-level programming languages.
It seems "context" (As well as "task" too) was adopted to abstract the concept of a thread, which is problematic. Abstraction should be avoided when formally explaining concepts or operating at lower levels of computing.
