As a way to help deal with the backlogs, I would like to propose an admin backlog contest.
The admin backlog contest would take place during an agreed-upon week, or perhaps start and end each consecutive week. The weekly winner would be recognized with a wikicertificate and be acknowledged in the Wikipedia Signpost.
Scoring for the admin backlog contest could be as follows:
Deletions
- 1 point for article speedy deletions, or proper removal of a speedy tag
- 3 points for image speedy deletions, or proper removal of a speedy tag (images must be removed from any articles they are in!)
- 3 points for every AfD closure
- 9 points for deletion or resolution of images in fair use backlogs.
- -50 points for deletions that are later overturned as a result of a deletion review or other discussion.
Blocking
- 2 points for each block on WP:AIV.
- 10 points for properly resolved WP:SSP reports.
- -100 points for blocks that are later overturned after community discussion on one of the noticeboards.
Please feel free to discuss on the talk page, or be bold and add new scoring criteria, or adjust the existing scores if you feel they are unfair.
I realize this probably won't be received very well, but I hope it will at least spark discussion (or more importantly action) on ways to tame the growing backlogs, separate from the ongoing discussion over at WP:RFA.
