Coder is a software development company founded in 2017 by Ammar Bandukwala, Kyle Carberry, and John Andrew Entwistle, who initially collaborated on Minecraft plugins and servers during high school. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, Coder offers an open-source, self-hosted cloud development environment (CDE) that enables organizations to provision and manage development environments on their own infrastructure, whether on-premises or in the cloud. Their platform supports various integrated development environments (IDEs) and tools, allowing developers to work efficiently from anywhere while maintaining security and control over source code and data. As of June 2024, Coder has raised a total of $85.2 million in funding over four rounds, with the latest being a $35 million Series C round. The company continues to innovate in the field of cloud-based development solutions, aiming to enhance developer productivity and streamline workflows.
