Explaining 3D Animation Animation can be used for different things. You could use it for simple videos just for fun, make movies and cartoons, or make advertisements with animation. But none of these beats one thing: 3D Animation. 3D Animation is the making of three-dimensional moving objects in a 3D space. They look like they move like real-world objects. Back in the 1960s, William Fetter created 3D animation. He made it to understand airplane cockpit designs. Nowadays, we use it in video games, television, and filmmaking. Some of Disney’s films such as “Sleeping Beauty” and “Bambi” are both in 2D, while “Frozen” and “Ice Age” are in 3D. Some animations are drawn on paper, as Bambi was. Airplane manufacturers use animation to simulate aircraft design and testing, as they want their products to be sturdy and safe. In contrast, medical services use VR to reduce anxiety, and MRI scans can produce calm, relaxing images if they are stressed in an enclosed space.
3D Animation Process In the modeling phase, animators use something called a modeling tool. A 3D mesh is made from a primitive, which is then shaped into the wanted figure. They are then given details like depth and color. This is called rigging, which gives it a skeleton that allows it to move. The animators have many ways to make it move. They can use Keyframe Animation, Motion capture, Procedural Animation, Physics-based animation, and Performance animation. Once everything is perfected, they can go on to rendering. The final 3D shape will be changed based on light, reflections, transparency, and others.
