Simple 4-line rhymes are usually characterized by having a simple rhyme scheme of ABCB repeated throughout the entire poem. Though usually simplistic looking, the songs can be very complex and are widely used today in most poetry and songs.

History

This history of a simple 4 line poem is also known as pantroum. [1] It consists of 4 lines which create a stanza. The second and fourth line of the stanza rhyme with each other. The simple 4 line originated in the fifteenth century in malaysia. It was explained to be used for in many songs. [1]

Many poets and authors use this pattern, including popular children's poets Bruce Larkin and Kenn Nesbitt.[2]
